DALLAS (AP) — San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama suffered a sprained right ankle after stepping on a ball boy’s foot during warmups late in Saturday night’s loss against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Fell.

The 19-year-old France sensation returned to the locker room to get his ankle taped and wanted to play, but the Spurs held him out for precautionary reasons.

This was the second time in three games that Vembanyama was inactive. The cause was a sore right ankle four nights earlier in Milwaukee.

Wembanyama, about 7 feet 4 inches tall, played 22 minutes in Thursday night’s loss to Chicago, one of his season lows.

The Spurs entered the Dallas game at 1–21, with three consecutive losses, setting a franchise record for losses for the second consecutive season, ending an 18-game skid.

Vembanyama is averaging 18.5 points and 10.7 rebounds which is No. 1 overall. He made his NBA debut in October at home against the Mavericks.
