SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — American actor Christian Oliver and his two daughters died in a plane crash near a small private island in the eastern Caribbean, according to police in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The crash occurred Thursday just west of the island of Petit Nevis near Bequia as the plane was headed toward nearby St. Lucia, police said in a statement.

He identified the daughters as 10-year-old Madita Klepser and 12-year-old Annick Klepser, adding that pilot Robert Sachs also died.

According to police, it was not immediately clear what caused the accident.

Fishermen and divers from the area went to the crash site to help as the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard moved to the area, officials said.

“The selfless and brave actions of the fishermen and divers are greatly appreciated,” the police said.

Oliver had dozens of credited film and television roles, including the 2008 film “Speed ​​Racer” and “The Good German,” Stephen Soderbergh’s World War II film in 2006 starring George Clooney and Cate Blanchett. .
