Rudy Giuliani files for bankruptcy days after being ordered to pay $148 million in defamation case

NEW YORK (AP) — Rudy Giuliani has filed for bankruptcy, days after being ordered to pay $148 million in a defamation lawsuit.

The former mayor of New York City listed approximately $153 million in existing or potential debts. These included hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax liens, money owed to his lawyers, and millions of dollars in potential legal judgments in lawsuits against him.

The largest of those is $148 million he was ordered to pay a week ago for making false statements about poll workers in Georgia during the 2020 presidential election.
