JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli soldiers shot dead two Palestinians and wounded a third on a Gaza beach, the army said Saturday, reacting to video showing a man falling to the ground after walking across an open area. But it was falling and then a bulldozer pushed two bodies inside. Sand scattered among the garbage.
The army said the troops opened fire after people allegedly ignored warnings.
The video was broadcast by the Al Jazeera television network earlier this week. The original source of the footage is unknown, as well as the date of the incident. Al Jazeera said at least two of the three men seen in the blurry video were waving white flags before they were shot.

In the video, a man can be seen walking away from Israeli forces before falling to the ground after being shot. He is seen at one point raising his hands above his head, and Al Jazeera said he was waving a white flag before he was shot.

In a separate part of the video, another Palestinian man is seen approaching nearby Israeli forces and waving a white flag, before walking off camera, according to Al Jazeera.
At the end, the bodies of two men are seen being dragged through the sand, one after the other, by an Israeli bulldozer. The army said the vehicle was used out of fear that the men might have explosives.
The army said both of those killed were carrying bags, although no bags were visible in the footage. The army said the injured man was later released after questioning.
Palestinians and human rights groups say Israeli forces have used disproportionate or indiscriminate force in their offensive on Gaza, causing heavy civilian casualties. He says that even when such killings are captured on video, military investigations rarely result in charges against the soldiers involved.
Israel holds Hamas responsible for civilian casualties as militants operate from within civilian areas. The army did not say whether it would investigate the shooting on the beach.
More than 32,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run territory’s health ministry. The war began on October 7 when Hamas-led militants attacked southern Israel, killing 1,200 people, mostly Israelis, and abducting about 250 others.
