DETROIT (AP) — An altercation over a parking space outside a Blues Club left five people injured early Friday, according to Detroit police.

Assistant Police Chief Charles Fitzgerald told reporters that the argument began around 2:45 a.m. and turned serious when one of the men involved pulled a gun from a vehicle and fired into the crowd.

“When he came back he brought a gun, like most cowards do,” Fitzgerald said. “Shooting five people in a parking lot is stupid to me.”

After this the gunman left from there. Seven or eight shell casings were found in the parking lot. No arrests have been made.

Fitzgerald said it appeared only one of the shooting victims was involved in a fight. The rest were spectators. All five, aged between 33 and 49, have been admitted to hospital in a stable condition, he said.

Fitzgerald said police are also investigating why the club was still open for business after 2 a.m., as it does not have a city permit for extended hours.
